Xerophyta retinervisBlack Stick Lily Hardiness: USDA 8a 10F - possibly lower Xerophyta retinervis, or Black Stick Lily, is a drought tolerant "resurrection plant". It often blooms after fire, and can withstand months of drought, only to spring back to life rapidly once rains come. They produce light blue to mauve flowers irregularly in Spring when rains resume in its native South Africa. It has been used as a charm against lightning, but I can't guarantee that!
