Description: The Pre-1964 Winchester .308 Model 70 Featherweight barrel is a takeoff in about very good condition. It appears to have been shortened to 19" overall and it does not have a front sight ramp or any provision for a front sight bead. The unusual thing about this barrel is the roll stamping numbers on the underneath side and just forward of the chamber, with the numbers "75531". The number stamping is Winchester factory original of an unknown significance. I have owned several hundred Pre-64 Model 70s in all calibers and configurations from carbines to unusual chamberings like 9MM & 7.65 and I have never seen similar number markings on any other barrel. This barrel is a Model 70 collectable oddity that should be researched! In 19" length it would also make very handy short-barreled hunting rifle. An eBay patron indicates that the number stamped is likely the receiver serial number. Unfortunately, 308 barrels were not available when 75531 receivers were built.
