Description: Here is a beautiful large Kweo (Wolf) kachina doll by master carver Arthur Holmes Sr. In its crouched position, it measures 12 inches tall and about the same wide. The attached tag states that Kweo frequently appears with the deer and antelope kachinas when they dance in the plaza. They are wary of him as in real life he is their hunter. Holmes (1945-) has been active as a carver since the 1960s. He is the father of Arthur Holmes Jr., another master carver. My parents collected kachinas in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and as they have now both passed, I will be selling their collection.
