Description: Vintage Wilton Armetale 9" Commonwealth Pewter Pitcher With Ice Lip - 80 oz. Handsome Vintage Wilton Armetale 9" Commonwealth Pewter Pitcher with Ice Lip. The Wilton family has been involved in the metal casting industry since 1892 but the company's greatest success occurred in 1963 when Wilton, Jr. developed the formula for a unique aluminum-based alloy called Armetale, which led to a new line of Wilton products. In 1969, the Wilton Brass Company relocated to Mount Joy, Pennsylvania and changed its name to reflect its new direction. Armetale, which means art metal, tarnish-resistant alloy will not crack, chip, or dent; and its ability to retain temperatures makes it versatile for heating, chilling, and serving. This pitcher is from their Commonwealth Line and is made out of pewter and has the older RWP- Wilton Columbia PA makers mark on the side instead of the bottom, which dates it to an earlier piece. It measures 9" tall x 6" across the bottom, and 9" from the back of the handle to the front tip of the spout. It is a heavy piece weighing a little of 3.8 pounds, it is in good but vintage condition. It has been washed but not polished. Have some dents, scratches and dings but overall, a nice piece that would look great as a rustic decorative piece or farmhouse chic décor. Vintage and antique items have been loved and used by the previous owner so please expect for there to be some imperfections.
