Vintage RARE 1940's Astatic T-3 crystal harp microphone Hi Z w cable JT30 D104

Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a unique and rare early 1st generation 1940's era Astatic T-3 model crystal microphone that comes with the 8 foot cable used to operate the mic. It should be noted right away that this mic comes with it's original crystal element but the signal strength is only around 50% so this mic really should be used for display, prop or repair purposes. Pic # 2 is from a 1940's era Astatic catalog showing this very model. This hard to come by T-3 has the unique lower adapter that's built into the mic. This early T-3 design was changed in the late 1940's so that an F-11 adapter would be used to attach the mic. You'll notice this mic has no F-11 adapter. The lower swivel is basically the smaller F-11 that gives the mic a lot of character. It should also be noted that the mic no longer has it's original Astatic badge as it seems to have been lost at some point unless there was never a badge on this model? I'm not sure because I have not come across this early 1st gen T-3 before. These are quite rare. With the exception of the different lower swivel mechanism the T-3 head is identical to the later more common models. The mic itself is far from perfect as there are quite a few scuff marks and scratches on the polished chrome finish. It's free of dents or heavy corrosion as fortunately. The front screen looks incredible and the black cloth inner liner is perfect. The swivel works perfectly giving you a decent degree of tilt back and forth. Mic has all original screws. I would give it a solid 6 on a scale of 1 - 10 physically speaking. If you play a harmonica then this will be an excellent mic. Lite weight and easy to cup and a Shure C.M or Shure C.R element would really make this mic come alive. The short 8 foot cable is in very nice condition. It's soft, pliable an has the chunky older male 1/4 inch end connector. This mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have.
