Description: This lovely and soothing Spring landscape hand painted on silk features traditional Japanese farm houses and fields abounding with Cherry Trees in full flower, and Mount Fuji rising majestically in back, above a bank of fog or clouds. Two structures--minka houses, both, I presume--are off to the left, their thatched roofs tidy and their architectural lines straight and clean. Fields surround the houses, some tilled in rows, while the Flowering Cherry Trees show off their delicate, elegant blooms. The farming in the foreground gives way to green hills and trees in the distance. And beyond the hills is seen the peak of Mount Fuji, arising ethereally from a circle of low-laying clouds. This painting is still in good shape, and framed, measuring 17 1/2 inches wide and 15 inches tall. It was professionally framed years ago, but the classic black frame has clearly seen some wear (though a few dabs of judiciously applied black paint would make a world of difference!), and the paper covering the back as the finishing step has been torn in some places.
