Description: This is an expressive and vibrant Vintage French Modern Impressionist Figural Abstract Oil Painting on canvas, by mid 20th century painter, Paul Armiss (b. 1866.) There is very little, (basically none,) information on this talented painter, but perhaps you know more about him or his work? This piece depicts a pensive, seated young man, with his hands in his lap, who gazes downward at the ground. Standing next to him is another man, likely a friend, who looks down on him with a caring, yet worried facial expression. Surrounding these figures is an abstracted palette of kaleidoscopic colors, rendered in bold and bombastic brush strokes and color schemes. Signed: "Armiss" in the lower right corner. Approximately 14 7/8 x 21 5/8 inches. This piece likely dates to the 1950's. Very good condition for age, with some light edge wear and speckles of paint loss to the painted surface of the canvas (please see photos.) Acquired in Los Angeles, California.
