Description: Ansonia Sunwatch: Sundial + Compass, Vintage 1921 Nicest on eBay! Includes Manual! This listing is for: A vintage sundial/compass made by the Ansonia Clock Co. Per internet research, these were made between 1920 & 1929. This belonged to either my grandfather or his brother. They were both engineers, farmers, factory workers, & inventors with patents. (Follow me on eBay for some more of their vintage engineering & math treasures that I'll be listing soon.) This Sunwatch is in *GREAT* condition: There is very light wear. No serious corrosion, scratching, etc. The top face of the case is beautifully smooth, while the bottom has a handful of shallow dings. The TABLES OF LATITUDES ETC. insert in the cover looks perfect. The artwork on the face of the sundial & compass are stunning, with just a little marring around the compass glass--that looks like a different material that succombed to some oxidation that the brass body didn't experience. The arm moves perfectly, stays in position, & stows correctly. The lid latch works perfectly & feels satisfying to operate. The manual is in superb condition, with the exception of a short, neat, straight cut on the cover. But the cover still stays flat. The slit is pretty subtle. Just some very slight yellowing or staining. Most of the pages are white & free of defects. There's a subtle dimple on the covers from the sundial arm pivot block.
