Vintage 1979 New Barbarians T Shirt Rolling Stones/Ron Wood/Keith Richards

Description: The New Barbarians were a very short lived super group of sorts that was around in 1979. While on a bit of a break with The Rolling Stones, Ronnie Wood released a solo album "Gimme Some Neck". This project was formed to help promote that record. The band consisted of Keith Richards who said he joined to help get away from heroin, Anita Pallenberg and general boredom along with fusion bassist Stanley Clarke, Faces keyboardist Ian McLaughlin, Stones touring sax master Bobby Keys and funk drummer Zigaboo Modeliste. They also almost enlisted Neil Young who attended a couple jam sessions and ended up naming the band when he called Ronnie and Keith "a bunch of barbarians." They played 20 shows and a couple festivals in 1979 and into early 1980. That's it. Their first 2 shows were in Canada to help finish off Keith's sentence in Ontario for heroin possession. They were charity shows performed in Oshawa. Their 18 US shows were a mix of debauchery, riots and outright lies about "special guests" who were used in promotion but never appeared on stage. The Milwaukee show got violent when fans realized there would be no Mick Jagger or Peter Frampton or any other guest the band insinuated to sell tickets. This tee was only sold at the Madison Square Gardens show and is pristine. I've seen a few similar shirts but haven't tracked down another exactly like this one. That show also got a bit wild but didn't blow up like the show in Milwaukee that led to 81 arrests! This one is for you skinny bitches. 16 x 24. Lots of stretch, though. Hit me up if you'd like this piece of rock history
