Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE ***********Although the manual wind movement keeps accurate time over an approximate 43 hour power reserve period given its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This is a midsize watch, measuring approximately 33 mm excluding the crown, approximately 35 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs.*********** This seldom seen vintage 1970's Ernest Borel Sea Gem has a lovely blue accented silver satin "SWISS" only signed dial and the original lume on the hands, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a warm buttermilk hue. The all stainless steel midsize case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The outside of the case back is stamped "407004" followed by "144548." The inside of the case back is stamped "ERNEST BOREL" followed by "SWISS MADE." The crystal should be replaced. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "BOREL" and "SYNCHRON 40" stamped manual wind movement runs strong and keeps accurate time. After recently winding the signed, non-screwdown crown 30 full revolutions the movement had an approximate 43 hour power reserve period. The crown winds buttery smooth. Given that this watch is more than 50 years old and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 33 mm excluding the crown, approximately 35 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 7 mm. Given the vintage nature of this watch and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
