Description: This watch was manufactured sometime in the 60's and features large baton markers and day/date display. It has had a hard life - I found the watch minus strap at the bottom of a shoe box of junk at a car boot. The face was unreadable as the glass was so scratched, the crown was missing, and all the gold plate had worn from the case. After getting it home I took the back off and it was pristine. After fitting a a new crystal and an appropriate crown this watch doesn't look half bad. I wore it most days for about 6 months and it keeps pretty good time, within 20s/day. Because of the lack of gilding the price is reflected. Buler is a Swiss watch brand founded in 1945 by Charles and Albert Buhler. During the initial years, it had been operating in a small atelier at the Oelestrasse. In 1954, Walter Rufli took over the management of the firm. In 1956 Buler moved into a new and modern factory situated at the foot of the Jura-mountains at the Solothurnstrasse in Lengnau. The company soon became one of the leading producers of pin-lever mechanical watches. Production was highest in the 1960s however declined with the quartz watch influx of the 1970s.
