Description: Popular in the 1940s, this tin toy spinning top was perhaps the most iconic example of must haves for children at the time. Designed by Elaine Ends Hileman for Ohio Art featuring a lithographed design with a boy and girl chasing bunnies around the top, with a red background and blue tip. Handle is wood and the spinning rod is steel. The bottom shows handwritten numbers 701917. (unless I have it upside down and it really says L160L??). This is unusual and I've been unable to determine what this number refers to. The design number is #145 as printed on the side. Condition is fairly typical of this toy showing paint wear, stained handle and worn tip. I did not observe any dents. Measures 5-1/2" diameter.
