Description: Original 1939 fold-out Standard Oil Company road map of Long Island, printed more than 85 years ago. This map opens to 18½" x 26" and has great detail on old street and highway alignments, with cartography by the General Drafting Company. It has information on auto and passenger ferries, and it locates yacht clubs, golf clubs, flying fields, public bathing beaches, and railroads. A colorful pictorial guide with dozens of charming illustrations highlights the location of the 1939 New York World's Fair as well as other scenic and historical landmarks between the Statue of Liberty and the Montauk Lighthouse. This map was published in 1939 by the Standard Oil of New York division of the Socony-Vacuum Company to promote its Socony brand gasoline and Gargoyle Mobiloil. It is dated in the legend. This is an original, authentic 1939 road map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. Condition: It is in very good condition, with no rips or tears. There's some faint soil on the front and back covers; the map itself is bright and clean, with no marks or writing. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions. Buy with confidence!
