Up for auction is 1 ABSOLUTELY STUNNING VINTAGE AND VERY RARE "VIKING" PATTERNED GLASS BY HOBBS, BROCKUNIER & CO. EAPG WATER PITCHER, with 3 small chips on its feet. It is also called "Centennial" or "Bearded Head" or "Old Man From The Mountains". It features 3 bearded men in helmets on each of the three large feet, a thin narrow bearded man in a helmet on the handle (which is actually amazing), and one very large 3 inch long bearded man also in a helmet under the spout, all of which can be seen in the photographs. This piece was designed and patent No. 9647 on November 21,1876 by John H. Hobbs, and the mold was made by Stephen Hipkins, making it some 147 years old and it was hand pressed into the 3-part mold. It is absolutely authentic because only new goblets and tumblers were ever reproduced and they were never part of the original 24 pieces in this "Viking" pattern. This glass crystal footed pitcher comes from a bye-gone era when American manufacturing was an "art", as can be seen from the gorgeously 3-part mold-pressed "Viking Motifs" as can be seen in the photographs. It is absolutely gorgeous and all 5 of the viking heads are in absolutely perfect condition, as if it were purchased yesterday. I only wish I had more because the pitcher is that beautiful. It is an extremely large water pitcher holding some 48 oz. of liquid inside and weighing a little more than 3 pounds. It stands between 8 inches tall; 8 1/2 inches to the top of the handle and 9 inches to the sides of the spout, which also is in perfect condition. The top opening measures 6 inches across and 8 inches from the spout to the handle, which also is in perfect condition. The round base measures about 5 3/4 inches across its widest part, as can be seen in the photographs. As I said, it was purchased from an old estate sale on Long Island. Although it was pre-owned, it does have a few scratches on it which would be commensurate for its age. There are also some straw marks and tiny bubbles which was present during its manufacturing, as can be seen in the photographs. I found it sitting inside a closed dining room cabinet where it seemed to have sat there for many years and was hardly used, and this is probably the reason why there are so few scratches on the pitcher. The only issues with the pitcher are the 3 small chips to its bottom, as can be seen in the last three photographs. Two of the bottom scallops between the feet are chipped on its bottom, and the third tiny chip is to the very bottom front edge of one of the large feet under the viking head. However, when using the pitcher, they are very hard to notice unless you are looking for them. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always try to describe the items as best as I can. Besides these three small chips to its base, I don't see any other chips, fleabites, cracks, scratches, stains, cloudiness, or repairs anywhere on the pitcher. It comes from a smoke-free home. I only accept PayPal, and never charge extra for packaging and handling. Shipping and Insurance by USPS Rate Priority Mail, or UPS or FedEx, whichever is cheaper and faster costs $16.85. Payment is expected within 3 days, after which I will immediately ship out the pitcher as soon as payment is verified by eBay. Buyer may be subject to sales tax which is collected by eBay, and not given to me at all. If payment is not received within 5 days, the pitcher will be relisted. Returns will be arranged only if I have shipped the wrong item, or if I have misrepresented the item or its condition. If you need more pictures or further details, please feel free to contact me. You must be happy with you purchase. Please ask all questions, and contact me with any issues before bidding, because your bid is a contract. Please know that we can work together.
