Description: This is one if my most favorite Miriam Haskell pieces, it is absolutely brilliant and I have coveted it for many years! This is a very substantial brooch in every way, it weights in at a whopping 75 grams or 2.64oz ! This exact piece is a book piece, it has its own page spread featured in the book, The Jewels Of Miriam Haskell" by Deanna Farneti Cera, page 77. The details noted are that it was made by designer Frank Hess for Miriam Haskell circa 1940, it features gilded metal bells adorned with amber colored beads suspended on chains of various lengths. This Brooch is not signed, this is because Miriam Haskell depleted its inventory of metal parts during WWII and substituted with pierced plastic. I bought this brooch years ago because it felt very Miriam Haskell to me, I was delighted to come across it in one of my reference books authenticating it. There are 10 chains dangling from the main center peice, each chain has different amounts of bells hanging from it. There is one single glass bead that is significantly chipped, I photographed this and took two extra photos with a pink label attached (last photo in listing). The plastic pierced backplate is slightly bent, I don't know if it is caused by the shear weight of this brooch or if it has just curled a bit over time, you can see this in the second to last listing photo lineup. This is a very old brooch and does show some wear, I took as many photos as I could so please make sure to review them closely as that is the best way for you to gage condition for yourself. All vintage jewelry is sold as is, any cleaning is left to the buyers discretion. I'm truly sad to be parting with this brooch as it is a significant treasure, I trust that whomever gives it a home will love it as I have. It would be a fantastic addition to any Miriam Haskell collection!
