Description: The Tonk Brothers sold banjos under the Sterling label. I've never seen a Sterling with this much celluloid. And the celluloid is in great shape. Still has the original case. Sterling banjos were made by several companies (Stromberg-Voisinet, Regal, Kay, Slingerland, etc.) and it's hard to determine which one made a particular instrument. This one is identical to Luxor banjos; another stencil/decal brand.Specs:19 bar frets22" scalefriction tunersnew Minstrel Rogers headmaple rimmaple resonator with marquetryBlack lacquer finishV profile necksquare dowel stickcomes with new and old bridge, both Groveroriginal chipboard caseThis one needed a major setup. Had to re-angle the neck to get the action lower, see the photos. Adjusted the tuner tension. Buffed out minor finish issues, had to shave the depth stops on the resonator to accommodate the new neck position. The case is the original chipboard with a broken handle; see the photos. Also comes with the original wrench and original bridge.
