Description: Listing for a unique possibly rare drop bail drawer or cabinet pull. A larger pull made of cast bronze and weights over 1/3LB. Central detail is a Chinese Character meaning Luck. I was correct by one observant visitor who informed me that this was not an Arabic character as I had posted but rather Chinese and as noted means luck. I was also informed that I had it upside down (ignorance, no disrespect intended). I have since corrected my mistake. Since my benefactor is Chinese I will take him or her as being the expert on this. There are no patent or other discerning markings on the back. Note that the perimeter pattern mirrors itself on both halves. Even the bail pull has the same pattern on both sides so that no matter which way it was installed it looked correct. It's rare, in fact I don't think I have ever seen a bail that was finished on both sides. Usually one is ornate and the other smooth. Since I was wrong on my Arabic theory I will post another ludicrous one. Like horseshoes hung over a doorway were always hung open side up to catch the luck (hung the other way meant your luck ran out). My theory is that if hung the wrong way would mean bad luck. Now I sit back and wait for my friend to correct me on this also. Stunning antique Victorian cast bronze (not pressed) bail drop drawer pull. Beautifully detailed. Lightly cleaned but more or less sold as found. Requires 4 small brass screws to install which are not included. Buy based on what you see in the pictures. If you need additional information and/or pictures please don't hesitate to ask but do not expect it. based on my track record, to be correct. O-1
