Description: This card shows a steam train on the tracks in Williams, Arizona. The engine was the largest in the world at the time this card was printed. A statement on the back of the card reads:“Mallet Compound Engine,Largest in the World, on the Santa FeThe Santa Fe uses the largest engines in the world. They are of the mallet type and are 105 feet long and weigh together with the tender, 600.000 pounds: the weight of the drive wheels alone being 365.000 pounds. These giants of the Railway world look like two engines joined together minus the smoke stack of one and the cab of the other.” This original postcard was published by the Racket Store in Williams, Arizona, and printed by Teich of Chicago, C.T. Photochrom #R-18248. This ID number suggests the card was printed between 1908 and 1910.
