Description: Fish anywhere in the world! This sale is for three (3) L.L. Bean Travel Series 5, 7. & 9 wt Fly Rods, reals, & line outfit. You may fish anywhere in the world with this kit. I retired in 2002. It was time to fulfill my retirement dream and learn to fly fish. I attended an L.L. Bean Fly Fishing class in Front Royal, VA. After the class, I asked the instructor what rods I needed to be able to fish anywhere in the world. He recommended the L.L. Bean Travel Series Fly Rods in weights 5, 7, and 9. I promptly bought the three outfits he recommended. They aren't available anymore. I never did make it "around the world." I discovered I enjoy the small steams found in the Blue Ridge Backcountry. I only fished the 5 wt. I probably used it three times before moving on to an Orvis Superfine 7.5 foot 5 wt rod and retired my my 5 wt travel rod. The 7 wt was fished once. I loaned it to my brother so he could join me fishing the Shenandoah River. I never fished the 9 wt. Each kit consists of a 6 piece fly rod, cloth sleeve, and a 22” tube, a Meridian Fly Reel loaded Scientific Anglers Supreme 2 fly line, and an extra empty Meridian spool. The line is original. I fished the 5 wt last year while helping a Boy Scout earn his Fly Fishing Merit badge. The line is in good shape. I shared the original catalog description with the pricing and option scribbles the L.L. Bean Fly fishing manager (they used to have a store in the Virginia Tyson’s Corner shopping Center) and I made on it while I decided exactly what to buy. I decided to buy them all. I included this catalog in the box. All three rods would pass for brand new. They spent the last twenty-two years on a shelf in my garage. The deserve better. L.L. Bean doesn’t make a travel fly rod anymore. These rods kits hard to find. I suspect my "fish anywhere in the world" kit is extremely rare. If you are looking for rods you may travel with and a kit which will allow you to fish anywhere, this rare offering is it. It deserves a Fly Fisherman or woman who will these rods spend some time on the water. I never did fulfill my goal of “fishing around the world”. Life got in the way. I’m getting old, and don’t wander around the Mountains that often these days. It's your turn.
