Description: This hard copy of "The Virginian" by Owen Wister was published by Grosset & Dunlap as part of the MacMillian's Standard Library in 1904. It is illustrated by Arthur I. Keller. There appear to be 4 black and white illustrations. The fourth illustration is loose and has "ruffled edges "and a fold on the side (photo 16). The story is considered as one of the first "Western" historical novels. It is set in the 1870's in the Wyoming territory. This is a good solid copy. The front hinge is tight. The back hinge paper is broken, and it is a little loose at the top and bottom (photo 12). The front cover is worn as is the spine. The corners are bumped. There is a name and a bookstore stamp on the inside front cover and a pencil mark on the frontispiece (photo 9). Page 229 had a bent corner and page 269 has a tiny tear. The book measurers 5 1/4 by 7 5/8 by 1 5/8 and has 504 pages. The acrylic stand is not included. Will send more photos upon request. Thank you for looking!
