Description: Up for sale is a Very Rare, First Edition/Ninth Printing of The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. Early Printings of this 20th Century Classic are Scarce and Becoming Increasingly Difficult to Find!! "1939", same year as the First Printing!! Complete with its' Original Dust Jacket!! Ninth Printing of the First Edition. Please remember this is NOT the First Edition/First Printing of this title!! An attractive option for collectors who desire a valuable early printing of this classic while avoiding the exorbitant cost of a first printing. Hardcover with its original, iconic dust jacket. The dust jacket is price-clipped, but the "Ninth printing" statement is still present on the inside front flap. Published by Viking: New York, 1939. First Edition/Ninth Printing. Early Printing. American Edition. Please remember this is NOT the First Edition/First Printing of this title! "Ninth Printing September 1939" is clearly stated on the copyright page and on the inside front flap of the jacket. This title was first published in April of 1939. This copy came out a couple of months later in September of 1939. Same year! Once again, we want to repeat that this is NOT a First Edition/First Printing. This rare treasure has some very clearly visible wear/age, but is still in Highly Desirable, Highly Collectible condition! The wear, however, is considerable and should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying. The book appears gently read and other than a previous owner gift inscription written on the first page, has no internal writing, no remainder marks, no missing pages and is NOT Ex-Libris or a BCE. The binding feels shaky/loose but is still holding tight. All of the pages are present and attached. Some general/shelf wear along with creases/marks/foxing/scuffing/wear to the spine/corners/boards, marks/foxing/wear to the edge/fore pages and creases/warping/marks/foxing/wear to the pages, NOT affecting the text! Please note the wear to the spine/corners/boards, particularly noticeable near/along the edges, the marks/foxing on the edge/fore pages and the wear that is present on the pages, particularly noticeable on certain pages! The wear on some of the pages is considerable! All of the wear previously mentioned is very clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. As mentioned before, there is some internal writing! There is a previous owner gift inscription written on the first page. The writing/page has been closely photographed for your consideration. The original dust jacket is price-clipped, otherwise fully intact, but has extensive wear! Some general/shelf wear along with creases, warping, scuffing, rips and marks. There are also numerous, very large strips of tape attached to the inside of the dust jacket! We assume all of the tape was attached to reinforce the dust jacket and to keep it intact? The tape has resulted in a very noticeable altering/stiffening of the dust jacket. Please also note the wear on the spine, at the corners and near/along the edges. The wear is substantial and very clearly visible! All of the wear should be carefully examined/considered. We tend to grade the condition of our books rather harshly and took into consideration any and all wear when determining the value of this rare book. Our VERY LOW asking price is a reflection of that consideration and if this copy was in better condition our asking price would be considerably higher. We purposely and closely photographed what we consider to be the most obvious and egregious wear. Once again, we want to reiterate that the wear to both the book and the dust jacket is considerable and VERY clearly visible! All of the wear should be carefully examined/considered BEFORE buying. Numerous photographs from various angles were taken for your consideration/inspection. Please closely and carefully view ALL the pictures for further clarification!! Payment must be received within three days or the book will be re-listed. Please feel free to contact us with any and all questions. We are very proud of our 100% positive feedback/ranking and offer an easy, no questions asked return policy so you can buy with confidence! Thank You!!
