Description: "The Cumberland News" May 8 1945. This Cumberland, Maryland newspaper is a great primary source on the end of WW 2 in Europe. Interesting article on the surrender of undefeated German troops in Norway, intense fighting against Japanese troops in Borneo, reactions to the news across the world and a very interesting article about the failure of Russian troops in Berlin to find Hitler. They would later correct that to say his charred body was found but the skull fragments from that body would later turn out to be that of a woman. Rumors still claim he escaped. Also vintage ads. A very interesting newspaper although missing pages. 4 pages including front page. Measures about 17" x 24". Highly recommended.
