Description: Larry Bowa's 1980 Adirondack Baseball Bat, Exclusively Game Used in 1980 by Bowa's HOF Pitching Legend Teammate STEVE CARLTON Factory Dated 1980 Adirondack Baseball Bat Philadelphia Phillies WS ChampsWorld Series Championship Year Larry Bowa, Philadelphia Phillies Fan Favorite Shortstop gave teammate Steve Carlton this Adirondack bat to use in the 1980 season. This is not an uncommon practice. Sometimes a player runs short on their personal stock of bats. Sometimes a player wants to experiment with a different model/style bat. Sometimes, players are superstitious and just want a change of luck so they use another guy's bat. For whatever the reason, this factory dated 1980 Adirondack bat was used by Hall of Famer Steve Carlton, and not Larry Bowa, as evidenced by the player number on the bat's knob, #32 (Carlton's famous retired uniform number 32). (Bowa's uniform number was #10). Furthermore, sometimes you may find 2 player numbers, indicating 2 players used the same bat at some point. I believe it is likely that this bat was used exclusively by Lefty as the faded black marker 32 is the only number on the knob. Larry Bowa played the first 12 years of his 16 year MLB Major League Baseball career with the Philadelphia Phillies from 1970 through 1981. He is generally regarded as one of the greatest MLB defensive shortstops of his era, and prior to Jimmie Rollins, arguably the greatest shortstop of the 142 year old Phillies franchise. Hall of Famer Steve, LEFTY, Carlton was arguably the greatest Phillies pitcher ever. His achievements are too many to list, but 4 Cy Young Awards are too significant to ignore. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask them. Thanks for looking. Have a great day. Ed Dolan.
