Description: St John’s Abbey Collegeville Book of Prayer A Short Breviary 4th Edition Liturgical Press This is a very hard to find 4th edition the A Short Breviary, a Catholic prayerbook in the Benedictine tradition which has close ties to the Anglican Communion. I found no staining and no writing on the pages, though there were some evidence of discoloration due to usage to some parts of the page edges (I provided a picture of this). There is very little discoloration and it’s remarkably white on the page edges. The binding has wear, more so to the spine as it is imitation leather. There is a small split on the front cover that isn’t visible unless you’re pulling back on the cover in the right way. The ribbons are actually in great shape for a book this old. They haven’t been too worn down and retain their color well. Some obvious abrasions to the binding. The text block itself is in fine shape. Both ends of the signatures were always bound rather tightly. I found a manufacturing defect that affected a few pages (torn, with a picture provided). If I didn’t have another copy, I’d definitely never part with such a treasure of a prayer book long since out of print and *highly* sought after. It took years for me to find one of my own. Overall an excellent, gently used copy.
