Many developed eye infections during the Spring rains. The cats are fed both moist canned and dry food twiced aily. Vitamins, Brewer's Yeast, and Lysine are added to their food to protect and support their immune system. We also neuter and spay (TNR) and microchip the cats for their health and safety. Veterinary care is expensive so you can only imagine paying for more than 25 kitties or more! During prolonged heavy Spring rains, some cats develop eye infections or upper respiratory infections that require antibiotics and/or terramycin (eye ointment). One tube alone costs up to $28.00. Sometimes kittens are born as you can see from the photos, they are adorable and require extra care as their health is tentative in the early weeks living outside in the elements. After the mama cat cares for them for 8 weeks we try to find homes for them. It is better for them to find a furrrever home at a young age rather than live outside so we find homes for the adoptable kitties after they are checked again by the Veterinarian. Kitten formula alone cost's between $6.99-$8.99 per can!!We realize it is difficult for many of people out there economically, caring for your own fur babies too. The kitties appreciate everything.
