(1 SET AS SHOW) INFORMATION: This design is known as the Cross of the Knights of St John and was adopted originally by General Orders Number 39, dated 18 August, 1896, but to be in embroidery or false embroidery. The flat design (as this one), was adopted in 1898. This design was replaced in July 1902 with the adoption of the caduceus. Hence, this particular design was in use for approximately 4 years.
