Description: Span-Am War Era US Army Pattern 1898 Canvas Haversack Pack w/2nd Infantry Unit Markings - Nice Condition Up for sale is a Spanish American War Era US Army Pattern 1898 Canvas Haversack Pack. The haversack is used, see photo's for condition. The haversack is Khaki in color. No rips or tears in the canvas. The metal parts are mostly free from corrosion. It still has the canvas strap to close the pack. This example is US marked, with 2nd Infantry Unit Markings on the front with the Infantry Crossed Rifle Emblem. The pack has the D-rings on the back for the shoulder strap. There are reinforcing leather tabs on the D-rings, this is a modification. No visible manufacturer markings. The bag is made of drab duck canvas with Snap Hooks on the upper corners of the back and a 14" x 14" flap on the front. Inside, the pack is divided into two compartments, one for a removable pocket. A pocket on the front designed to hold the 1874 meat can. There is a utensil pocket on each side for storage of a knife and fork.
