Description: Special Sets Are Shipped in Catalogue Order Inside a Protective Case MINT NEVER HINGED EISENHOWER USA 6c DULL GUM VARIETY 2016 BROOKMAN CATALOGUE VALUE IS $1.70 - $2.20 The Auction: The auction is for one Scott number 1401 pair FVF and MNH. It is the 6c Eisenhower regular issue coil with dull (dry) gum. They were originally printed with shiny gum (1970). The rotary press coil stamps are perf. 10 vert. Dull gum stamps are less common than the original printing. Robert Geissman designed the definitive. Six cents met the First Class 1 oz letter rate from Jan. 7, 1968 until May 16, 1971. It was replaced by an 8c variety of similar design in deep claret color. This Ike pair will be fresh off of the roll and problem-free guaranteed. See below to learn more about dull gum. Dull gum is sometimes called Dry gum or matte gum to avoid confusion with Dull gloss gum. Dull gum was first issued in 1971 for the Prominent Americans issue and by the late 1970s was used for most regular printings. The new experimental gum solved problems with sticking in humid climates and eliminated the need for interleaving in booklets. At that time all dull gum was PVA (polyvinyl acetate). However, with shiny gum it had always been easy to tell them apart from used, now it had become a little tricky. As the expression goes, a picture is worth a thousand words so computer enhanced photos follow to better explain. One way is to turn the stamp over and use an ordinary light bulb or flashlight. Simply shine the bright light at a glancing angle across the back surface of the stamp to pick up any tiny shadows in the gum. You may be surprised to find that dry gum on this issue has distinct diagonal ridges, as seen below. The peaks and valleys run at about a 45° to 50° angle and a magnifier can be used if still not clear. These gum ridges wash off when soaked, so un-gummed and used stamps are clearly flat in comparison. Used stamps are flat no ridges Dry gum showing faint ridges Computer enhanced ridges Ridges sometimes run this way 1401dg 1401v six-cent 6-cents $0.06 .06 6¢ Please read this before bidding on this auction Stock photo. The actual stamps may be different from this display, however we guarantee that they will be comparable or better condition or fully refunded. For blocks/strips the position order will always be exactly as pictured. Purchasing is self service. If you do not understand our terms please feel free to contact us for an invoice. We typically will not send a manual invoice because we have no way of knowing when you are done shopping until you ask. You will need to please pay combined. You will receive individual notifications from eBay with payment information after each item. You are free to combine and pay at any time that you are ready. Payments should be made within "reasonable time" following purchase. If this is not possible then please contact us ahead of time to make payment arrangements. Please do not pay for items separately (one at a time). This increases the fees that both eBay and PayPal charge us. Higher business costs means that we have to raise our stamp prices. Example - When purchasing more than 1 item, please Do Not immediately click confirm and pay now after each item that has been clicked buy now. Simply wait until you have all the items you want and then pay all together in one payment. Payment should automatically combine. If it does not please contact us.
