Second and third (iPhone) images show flowering details taken at the end of August 2024, as well as developing berries on rosettes that flowered earlier in the year. The last two images show bare root and treated, flowering sized pups being offered for sale that are divisions of the plant shown in all of the images above. Plants are ~36" tall and upright, but when established are usually 30" tall and have a more open habit. These root easily in any open, bark-based substrate. Ronnbergia drakeana is a medium-sized, drop dead gorgeous bromeliad, formerly placed in the genus Aechmea, that occurs in foothill Andean forests of southern Ecuador and northern Perú. As is the case in any plant, flower quality will vary from mediocre to outstanding. I am fortunate in having selected two exceptional individuals from a batch of imported plants that I purchased almost 15 years ago, and have propagated both clones out to the point where I can now offer them for sale. Does well under intermediate conditions but does require need cool nights when daytime temperatures are in the high 80s and low 90s F. Otherwise very straightforward in cultivation. All plants offered are greenhouse grown on benches in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Shipping: Plants will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail with tracking number. During cold weather 72 hour heat packs are available for an additional nominal charge. Wherever possible, plants will be shipped in plastic pots.
