Description: I have for sale a silk ribbon that commemorates Rear Admiral Richard E. Byrd's flights over the North and South pole. The ribbon is 7 1/2 by 2 1/4 inches and it is slightly circulated and has light staining, see photos. In the center it shows the military bust of REAR ADMIRAL RICHARD E. BYRD with his name. Above the bust it reads FIRST TO FLY OVER - THE NORTH POLE - 1926 and then it shows a star and reads NORTH POLE. Under the bust it reads FIRST TO FLY OVER - THE SOUTH POLE - 1929 (the last number in the year looks like a U on the ribbon) It reads ANTARCTICA and shows the location of the MAGNETIC POLE - LITTLE AMERICA - SOUTH POLE.
