RARE Vintage No. 23 Griswold 955 Bread Stick Pan AND Griswold Low No 8 Waffle

Description: Two for One Sale - Outstanding idea he thought. Their beloved Golden Retriever had an expensive Vet bill. Who cares, it’s just things and large breeds encounter hip trouble. Especially with a few too many treats, former counter surferont and lately, pilfering of grocery bags when they are left accessible. She wasn’t a fan of waffles, though he tried, it was Huckleberry pancakes or just dry toast. He preferred her southern cornbread (made with the last of the White Lily) cooked in an iron skillet. It’s how his Mamma made cornbread. Her Mom, and Grandmother heated an iron skillet in the oven with just enough oil or preferably bacon fat (I know, but it put a great crust on the cornbread as it cooked). Her cornbread was every bit as good, just healthier without the bacon fat. For company they used the Griswold for cornbread, just Ike you use the good dishes. Fancy cornbread sticks. She had even tried baby yeast rolls but the stuck together when the yeast came alive. Original and extremely well seasoned TWO Griswold cast iron, highly desirable cooking pieces For ONE MONEY! Please note the waffle iron low base appears to be a FANNER case iron piece, probably pieced together by the homesteader. 1.The No 23 Griswold Bread Stick pan with 2 (*TWO*) rows for cornbread or other bake-able items (now she thinks she should have tried muffins just for a different shape - maybe they taste different?). Bottom of bread pan is numbered 955. 2. Included in the price is an Griswold American No 8 waffle iron with low FANNER base. Slant Griswold logo. Note that low base has a C8 on the handle, this is a FANNER waffle base. I used it as is, cooks amazing, like all other cast iron cookware. This piece combination of Griswold and FANNER base is heavily used with original time accumulated seasoning. Most likely pieced together by the homesteader.. A well seasoned iron cook piece is to be treasured, you have hints of many waffles over the more than hundred years since it was made. Waffles that were made with local Montana wheat, hardy, keeping you with enough energy to brave the bitter cold, wade through the snow to complete chores made twice as hard in winter. Chopping fire wood by hand, carving out a homestead in a beautifully awe inspiring landscape that would take your breath away if the subzero winter temperatures didn’t. Local to Montana, he had hoped this gift would prompt her faith in waffles. Saint, our Golden Retriever thanks you in advance, loves his vet, wishes he could have 275 treats instead of dollars….
