Description: This is a rare, newly described fossil trilobite, Adrisiops weugi - a Phacopid, from the Middle Devonian of Morocco. The trilobite is sometimes referred to as a 'smiley Phacops'.The fossil measures 1.88 inches long, and 1.10 inches wide. The entire specimen, trilobite and matrix, measures 2.99 inches long, 2.0 inches wide and 1.22 inches high. Extremely well-preserved schizochroal lenses are present in both eyes (see pics). There is a repair running across the lower half of the thorax. In the trilobite -collecting world this is not a detriment. Trilobites are found by smashing open rocks- and the specimen often gets broken as a result. It is rare to find an entire, unbroken trilobite. And if one is found, they usually are sold for a premium amount. Many sellers do not disclose that their fossils have been repaired as the repair is often very well done, and virtually undetectable.
