Description: RARE Potosi 8 Reales, recovered from the Spanish Galleon "Nuestra SeƱora de la Consolacion" that sank off Ecuador ("Isla de Muerto") in 1681.Interestingly, early on during the salvage the identity of the ship was a bit of a mystery. It was assumed (albeit briefly) to be the "Santa Cruz", which sank in 1680. This coin comes with an early Sedwick certificate (1997), calling it the "Santa Cruz", as well as a recent IFC certificate. 8 Reales, Potosi mint. 13.31g. A rare, authentic shipwreck coin from a desirable wreck. Rare with "Santa Cruz" Sedwick certificate. Please see pictures.
