Description: This is a very rare form for a bank. The bank was formed in two pieces in a mold and the halves were pressed together while the clay was still wet and the seam smoothed out by the potter before firing. The coin slot is very generous in size which would have made getting coins out of it easy and which probably saved it from getting broken to retrieve coins. The glaze is more orange than brown and the fish has the body of a gold fish or carp. Dating from the late 1800s to c1900, this fish bank measures 6 ½” long. The bank has normal wear from use, chips on the mouth and tail and a small chip on the edge of the coin slot. There are no cracks or repairs. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
