Rare 19th C Antique Yale University French Neoclassical Silvered Bronze Inkwell

Description: Fresh from a Ct Estate is an Exceptional Rare 19th Century silvered bronze double inkwell in the French Neoclassical Form.I believe its provenance is from the Historic Yale University in New Haven Ct. as noted by the Yale University Wax Letter Seal that was included in this complete package.This 8 1/2 pound inkwell has a pair of gorgeous swan neck pen holders that act as handles for lifting and moving.In the center is a large detailed female bust of unknown origin with hooks that hold the wax seals.The two inkwells have excellent working hinged lids with tapered tops and a fluted design. (one glass well insert is missing I am sure they went through many in its lifetime)It sits on four floral designed bronze feet that curve out from the sides.The entire oval edge has a fine fluted design that exhibits class.Unsure of the date of this inkwell but I suspect it being of French origin early to Mid-Nineteenth Century.The solid bronze double inkwell is in amazing original condition with some honest wear to the dark silvered finish from use.I have not tried to clean it up except with a damp cloth to remove the dust. I will leave that up to the next lucky owner.The measurements are about 19" long from pen holder to pen holder. It sits about 7" wide and stands about 7 1/2" high to the top of the women's head.The Wax SealsThe last four images show the seals with the second image revealing the mirror look as they would be used on a letter.The wording on the University seal Roughly Translates to "The Seal of Yale College in New Haven in New England"The Monogram seal may or may not be "JRA". I did find a former Yale University President by the name James Rowland Angel who was president from 1921-1937 who was highly regarded at the University. That would mean he had the seal made up or refigured for his use. Just a guess as to the former owner was. I am sure it was someone of importance at the prestigious University.This is a special item that does not come around too often.
