Description: Pierce & McConnell cabinet photograph depicting Mount Difficulty & Mount Disappointment as seen from Wilson’s Peak. The image is from a series of Views of Los Angeles and Vicinity. "In his day perhaps the definitive Southern California photographer, C. C. Pierce was born in Massachusetts but came to Los Angeles in 1886 and documented the city until 1940. In 1890, he began to work for J.B. Blanchard at the 515 N Main St. Shortly thereafter, he partnered with A.E. McConnell, at the same location, and their view and commercial photograph business became known as the Tourist View Depot. By the turn of the century, he started his own gallery at 313 South Spring Street. Business grew and his shop was relocated to 1572 West Pico Street. This view is from the Main St address and prior to 1900. 5 ¼” x 8 ½”. Full back side text describing Southern California on the back. The image is a bit faded or possibly foggy. Light soiling in the sky area. Please see the scans for more details.
