Pearl Elegante Flute - PF-785-RB

Description: This flute is a real champ! It was chosen by me in 1996 from Orpheus Music in San Antonio, TX, the sole importer of Pearl flutes at that time, and played by me ever since. The Pearl Elegante (PF-785-RB) is an open-hole flute with a solid silver headjoint and body and silver-plated keywork. Pearl flutes are known for their pinless mechanism which remains consistent year after year and keeps repairs to a minimum. This flute has been a workhorse for me over the years as both my primary flute and then my backup. After a recent visit to the shop, it plays very well, but could use an overhaul before too long if you are planning on playing it everyday. It has a strong, malleable tone and the PF-7 headjoint, with its relatively large embouchure hole, is responsive and forgiving in all registers. Because of its forgiving nature, I feel this flute is perfect for doublers or intermediate players looking to upgrade. It’s also perfect for those who might not have the dough for a more expensive instrument. (FWIW, this flute was made at the original factory in Japan, before Pearl moved much of its operation to Taiwan) This flute is being offered at a discount because of the condition of the silver plating on some of the keys. In the past, I have put clear nail polish in the keys to have more of a smooth feeling under my fingers, but it never bothered me that much, and the missing plating does nothing to affect the sound or playability of the flute.
