Commonly known as the "Black Labor," it possesses exceptional mobility and power surpassing existing Labors. Developed and manufactured in secret by SEJ's Planning Division 7 at the Tsuchiura Research Laboratory, the Griffon represents the pinnacle of contemporary technology, with substantial research and development funding invested to achieve its outstanding performance. According to Masami Yuuki, the Griffon is inspired by the Black Ox from "Tetsujin 28-go." Like the Master Gundam from "Mobile Fighter G Gundam," which shares the same inspiration, the Griffon embodies the concepts of a "jet-black machine" and "two horns." In the original "Tetsujin 28-go," the Black Ox's combat data was derived from Bacchus; similarly, in this series, the Brocken serves as the counterpart to Bacchus, with a development history faithful to the original. The Griffon boasts capabilities comparable to military Labors, repeatedly confronting and often cornering the Special Vehicle Section 2 (primarily the Second Unit) throughout the series. Although it was never used in the series, the Griffon is equipped with an automatic pistol. Additionally, the optional flight unit and aqua unit, mounted on its back, grant it short-range flight and extensive underwater maneuverability. The boosters used during flight are integrated into the main body, separate from the flight and aqua units, and are employed for acceleration during charges, as seen in the new OVA against the Ingram. In emergencies, the ejection seat enables pilot escape, and the arms can be detached using explosive bolts.
