Description: ***collectors item*** Paco Rabanne first created his metal disc dress for his 1967 Couture collection. This dress revolutionized fashion and it is number 14 on the Marie Claire list of The 50 Dresses That Changed Fashion. In 1996 Paco Rabanne created a Do It Yourself version of this dress packaged in a plastic suitcase. This kit was only produced in 1996 and is one from the original release. The dress after construction is designed to fit a French size 38-40 but is adjustable. The kit includes 750 silver discs, 1300 gold toned metal rings, two pliers, and a Paco Rabanne metal label. The directions to create your own dress are also included. The box was taped shut originally so there is minor tape residue on the box as well as scratching. The unused discs and rings are in sealed bags. The bags were opened, and the pliers were utilized. I have replaced one of the bags with a ziplock bag. The other clear bag is the original. The dress has already been constructed which is reflected in the price. It took about 30 hours to construct. The links are not soldered together so alterations can be done fairly quickly. If you need to increase the size, there are additional pieces to allow you to alter the dress. You can also take out pieces to adapt it to fit your body or to completely redesign it to another fashion item, such as a top or skirt. After construction the dress has never been worn. First photo is an example of the dress on a mannequin. The last photo shows an example of the slit design on the side. Measurements: 19in across lying flat (38in around) 30in long from strap to hem.
