Description: Oxford Episcopal Book of Common Prayer BCP 1979 Genuine Leather 7414 This is a lovely and hard to find edition of the Book of Common Prayer (1979). It has a beautiful and richly defined black, genuine leather. Please note the certification year if that is important to you. This is a clearly unused copy, so it’s not been broken in yet, but even with nearly being right out of the box new it doesn’t close at Evening Prayer Rite I and I’m confident that with a few months or even a few weeks usage it would lay flat from Morning Prayer Rite I. It’s a superior print, in the Netherlands. There are many pages that still stick, including the main prayer sections. It obviously was stored upright for a time that slightly slanted the text block. A small section is dogeared that should straighten out after time. The leather is stunning in a rather plush, thick, and soft binding! I’m always acquiring these prayer books because the more recent editions are printed on such poor paper and with such poor binding that the quality simply doesn’t compare to these older editions. The smooth grain on the black is simply elegant. This edition from the early 90s had some of the best leather Oxford used in their BCPs. Very readable and yet in a compact footprint. The leather is free from any scuffing I can see. There is no writing in the that I could see. This is a slightly updated print probably from the late 90s. The footprint matches the 9614 NRSV. Page edge gilding has appears flawless except for the dogears. 6.3 x 4.6 x .9 inches Dime used for comparison Note: I do not accept returns unless the item was not as I described because of a mistake I made.
