We don´t sell repainted Raadvad bread slicers unless it´s stated in our description. Famous Danish design by RAADVAD. This is an old model produced ca 1940/50s. It still shows a little of its original golden coloring on the letters and the crown. The golden letters and the crowns and the shape of the wooden handle indicate that this is the older model from around 1930s to 50s. Model no 294. This bread slicer works great for cutting blackbread, especially rye bread which we eat a lot in Denmark. It would also look great just for display or as a small shelf for your cooking books. Function: The screw in front can be used to regulate the thickness of the slices. ConditionVery good used condition considering age and use. Fully functional! The blade is in good and sharp condition. It’s made of stainless steel and can be sharpened again and again for many, many years and last for ages. The wood looks very good considering age and has a beautiful warm patina. Some paint loss and rust spots here and there. The crowns and letters still wear some of their original golden paint! It combines function, aesthetics, and longevity so beautifully and convincing. Raadvad commissioned the Danish designer Ove Larsen in 1933 to design a breadslicer for them. As far as I could find out it came on the market in 1939. And it is this famous model you have here with the name Raadvad and the Royal crowns in low relief and the lovely shaped handle. I love it! And it really works so great! The breadslicer only changed a little over the next decades. Around 1960s or 70s the design was simplified. The Royal crowns disappeared, the handle got a more simple shape and now it was lacquered monochrome. Unfortunately during the 1990s Raadvad stopped the production of the breadslicers. Maybe because people preferred to purchase pre-sliced bread. Raadvad is a reputable Danish company established in 1759 and is well known for their high end quality kitchen equipment which still is on the Danish market.
