The television series MASH was developed by Larry Gelbart, adapted from the 1970 film directed by Robert Altman, starring Elliott Gould, Donald Sutherland, Tom Skerritt, Sally Kellerman, Robert Duvall, and Gary Burghoff and received 5 Oscar nominations. The series ran from 1972 - 1983 and is one of the highest rated shows in U.S. television history, winning numerous Emmys and Golden Globes. Both the film and the series were based on the 1968 novel MASH: A Novel About Three Army Doctors by Richard Hooker.
