Description: Authors' note from p. 5: "The reasons for this volume are easily explained. The career and personality of Peter Berndtson touched many of us profoundly and often changed the courses of our lives. The owners of Berndtson houses wanted to make Peter's architecture better known and the authors felt an effort should be made to assure that his ideas would have a chance of surviving along with his architecture. In 1971 a group of Peter's friends helped Aaron Sheon prepare a large retrospective exhibition of his work at the university of Pittsburgh Art Gallery. Following Peter's death in 1972, a large number of people formed a committee to generate support for this book as well as to insure the preservation of Peter's drawings. Peter's daughters, Anna and Indira, sorted the contents of his office and generously donated the drawings and files to the architectural drawing collection in the Fine and Rare Book Rooms of Hunt Library at Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh....We hope that this publication will provide a modest but permanent record of Peter Berndtson's accomplishments." Oblong softcover, 11" by 8 3/8", 80 pages, illustrated throughout with 7 color and 44 black and white photographs, 20 architectural drawings, checklist of projects.
