Description: Up for sale is a VERY NICE Oil on board painting almost certainly by well-known artist Francis Jamieson. It is signed "W. Richards" in the bottom right corner. Francis Jamieson (1895-1950) was an English painter who was obsessed with painting highland landscapes and became on the most prolific artists of his time. His paintings were so fashionable, that he was contracted to paint exclusively for various furniture stores painting scenes on furniture. He is believed to have painted under 11 different artist names so that he could sell more of his paintings undetected by his employers. These aliases include W. Richards, J. McGregor, Graham Williams, Henry Stewart, HB Davis and Aubrey Ramus. It is professionally framed in gold colored, wooden frame. The frame measures approximately 21 1/2" x 15". The actual picture is approximately 12" x 5 1/2". The frame is approximately 3" in depth. It has some nicks, cracks and chips and it's dirty, but would probably clean up fairly nicely. Overall, the painting is in Good Condition, but I have not examined it outside of the frame. Some browning in the upper right hand corner. A superb example of this great artists work and an excellent investment - a perfect piece for any collector! Other small dings here and there.
