Description: This listing actually involves three things, the top hat, the seed beaded hat band and the sterling with turquoise brooch. I bought them as listed from a collector of native American Indian sterling jewelry, much of it antique. I decided to keep them together. The beaver skin top hat is from the 1800's. Inside it is labeled Mode DE Paris, Osgood, 183 Washington St, Boston. I assume a store named Osgood imported the hat from Paris. It is in good to very good condition for its age. There is some scuffs to the front brim, not bad. The satin band is splitting but it is unseen because of the beaded band. Otherwise it looks great to me. I wear a size 7.25 hat and it fits me perfectly. It is just over 6.5" tall and 12" long front to back including brim. The hat band has a nice pattern. Honestly I have no experience in judging beaded Native American items. It is a bit too big for the hat but is fine with a pin. The turquoise brooch is great. It is marked Sterling on the center back. The front is etched with 4 teepees and other designs and is shaped like a shield. The estata sale for the gentleman I bought this from was an antique dealer with a heavy interest in the Southwest and native American items. I googled American Indian top hat and saw some interesting photos. Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional pictures. Wax head not included!
