Description: Maxfield Parrish’s “With Trumpet And Drum” - Original Matted and Period-Framed Color Illustration (facing page 2) from the Scribner’s 1904 First Edition of Eugene Field’s ‘Poems Of Childhood’. The image is 7 3/8” x 5”. Outermost frame dimensions are 10 3/4”x 7 3/4". MP signature discernible in bottom right corner (photo #7). Colors are rich with no fade. This was originally painted for and appeared as the black & white frontispiece in the July, 1903 issue of Ladies Home Journal, issued as a print in 1905, and as an illustration in Field's 1904 book, (and several subsequent editions). Makes a great Holiday hanging. A nice size/cost alternative to the full size print (Ref. Flacks 4th Ed, page 63, photo #17).
