Wife of President Abraham Lincoln who was his side to witness the Civil War and her husband tragic assassination . Mary Todd Lincoln’s hair is set in a golden locket with a floral design The hair is 1/8 “ set in the locket. The locket and hair is affixed to an impressive presentation page that measures approximately 8 1/2”x 10” in size. The heading of the page reads MARY TODD LINCOLN ‘ S HAIR . Beneath the heading is a spectacular detailed description of the locket of Mary Todd Lincoln’s hair provenance that it was purchased by Malcolm Forbes Sr. at Sotheby’s Parke Berber in 1979 and later sold by The Forbes Collection at Christie’s Auction House. It is noted that hair from Mary Todd Lincoln is about 100Times as scarce as that of her husband Abe. Below the provenance statement is a oval shaped photograph of Mary Todd Lincoln and a smaller red framed photograph of a seated Abraham Lincoln .Above that is the floral locket containing Mary Todd Lincoln’s hair relic. Also on the page is provenance from Louis Mushro who is a lifetime member of Manuscript and have removed this hair from the enclosed described lot. Included is a separate CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY signed and dated 04/28/07 by Louis Mushro that states the Mary Todd Lincoln hair is authentic . As mentioned, Mary Todd Lincoln’s Hair is far more scarce and rarer than Abraham Lincoln’s Hair . Her hair relic would be a fantastic addition to a Mary Todd Lincoln or Abraham Lincoln Collector.
