Description: Offered is a large (10.5” x 15.25”) vintage serving tray by the Couroc Company of Monterey with an image of a CARDINAL. The image is made from pieces of metal, shell, and wood. Each plate is a work of art, while serving as a functional piece of serveware. Looking great in the bar or the kitchen, this handsome tray is in fine vintage condition, no chips or cracks. It does have 2 light utensil scratches in the top right corner. The Couroc of Monterey company was founded in 1948 at the pinnacle of mid-century modernism, and was in business until the 1990s. The founder, Guthrie Courvoisier, while making plastics for use in WWII, invented a type of resin called "Phenolyn" which he used to make his trays and dishes. His wife, Moira Wallace designed the images, and they hired artisans to make each piece. A Couroc motto was "Any tray can serve a drink. Only Couroc can start a conversation."
