Description: NOTE: If you are law enforcement, corrections, firefighter/paramedic, military, (you should get the idea by now whom I am referring to) or retired from any or all of these, or if you are involved in programs, projects, teaching, or documenting history, PLEASE LET ME KNOW BEFORE PAYING. There are approved manners for providing MORE THAN ONE without ANY additional cost, etc. Also, the pin for FIRST RESPONDERS doesn't have the recruitment wording, and may be included for free, with the restrictions/understanding of the below. LAPD GAY RECRUITMENT PIN WITH PINK TRIANGLE SPECIAL RELEASE FOR THE HISTORIC 25th ANNIVERSARY of the ORIGINAL PIN DISTRIBUTION In 1995 a lawsuit forced the "old" LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT to let gay and lesbian Officers participate in the Los Angeles Gay Pride Parade FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY. At the time, this was historic, and the lawsuit also required the "old" LAPD and to staff a booth at the Pride event in West Hollywood, to provide information about applying to become an LAPD Officer. During the Parade, these "LAPD RECRUITING DIVERSITY" pins were passed out and sought after by the attendees, but were only available at booths that were non-profit agencies. These booths sold out (2 or 3 times.) THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THESE HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE SINCE 1995 - 25 years ago this year!!! THESE ARE NOT A REPRINT OR A DUPLICATE. These are the remainder of the pins that did not get distributed along the Parade route or given to the non-profit organizations (who sold out at least TWICE as the demand became HUGE when people found out the pins were available inside the Festival, not just during the Pride Parade. The pins were based upon the beads and "tickets" the San Francisco Police Department used in distributing while marching in San Francisco Pride with on and off duty Officers, as seen in the photo.) BENEFICIAL SALES ITEM 90% of the money raised from selling these pins goes into the current version of the LAPD's "PEER COUNSELING" Program, with Certified Peer Counselors. (The other 10% goes to the below.) SOLE RE-RELEASE SINCE 1995 LAPD DISTRIBUTION. Kept in locked room for 25 years, after being used by the LAPD's Equal Opportunity Division (EODD) as recruitment of members of the LGBT Communities. CHARITY SUPPORTED PER PURCHASE: (Unless BUYER Designates Other) The Wall - Las Memorias Project A health and wellness organization dedicated to serving ALL Latinos/Native Americans and Latino/American Indian communities, as well as LGBT Latinos/Native Americans and other underserved populations, through advocacy, education, family support, financing and other food-shelter-medical needs, and certified internships open to all people as well as college/university students that will likely go on to be the next generation of leadership for all communities. SHIPPING:The pins are bubble wrapped and mailed inside a bubble wrap container. These pins remained in the plastic bags in the original boxes, so they never tarnished and are no different than they were in 1995, in there historic appearance THAT NEVER OCCURRED AGAIN, forbidden by LAPD management, with threats of charges of "misconduct" and "inappropriate appearance" by an LAPD Officer. Luckily, unlike the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, who will not hire any openly gay male applicant, the LAPD modernized - forced by the lawsuit, then by the individuals they hired and promoted. Each pin is $1.00, and they will be sent out USPS First Class, for $5.95 (eBay Determined Shipping Cost) The pin will be wrapped in cardboard or triple bubble wrap, in a bubble wrap envelope, because it is from that one time historic event, we don't want anything to alter the perfect condition it is in. FINANCIAL CAPABILITIES:If ANYONE who wants one but cannot afford one, it will be sent to you free - just like "Make A Wish" and the non-profit booths at the 1995 event got them for free.Just leave a message and without any medical or psychological details, explain why they are needed as well as how many.
