Description: Offered is the vintage German-language book "Jugend Um Hitler" ("Youth with Hitler"), by Heinrich Hoffmann (Hitler's official photographer and a member of his inner circle) and was published in Berlin in 1935. It appears to be a first edition. The book contains 120 black and white photos, with captions, of Hitler Youth and other German children and teens in the presence of or near by Hitler. Many of the photos show the youths posing with Hitler. There is a four-page foreword by Baldur von Schirach, Hitler Youth leader from 1931 to 1940. Obviously, given the topic, some of the images may disturb many people. This is a rare find; at the time of original listing I could not find any other first editions of this book for sale on eBay. The book is approx. 9 1/2" x 7". The pages are unnumbered but there appear to be approx. 50-75. It is in good condition overall. The red hard cover with the pastedown photo has moderate wear, with some soiling and marks. The pastedown photo is intact. There is no cracking inside either the front or back covers although there is cracking in the center of the book; however the pages seem to be fairly well attached. The gray endpapers in the back are clean; the ones in front have a previous owner's name written inside the front cover and some white residue on the opposite side. I see no missing or torn pages but a few pages have some minor edge wear. The pages have yellowed slightly but are otherwise mostly clean, with only occasional light foxing. I see no writing in the book except the name already noted. There is a small library stamp on the title page, dated 1939. I have a lot of experience with vintage and antique books but am not an expert so please let me know if my description is missing information and you have additional questions.
